Google to launch Pixel Watch 2 today: Everything we know so far
Google will unveil the second generation of its smartwatch – Pixel Watch 2 today alongside the Pixel 8 series and Pixel Buds Pro. The tech giant has confirmed that the Pixel Watch 2 will be coming to India on October 5.
Just like the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, the Pixel Watch 2 has been leaked numerous times in the last couple of months. From design to specs to price, here’s everything we know so far about Google’s upcoming wearable.
Design
While the Pixel Watch 2 might look just like its predecessor from the front, the upcoming smartwatch features a redesigned back that packs 3 new sensors and is made from 100 per cent aluminium.
A recent report by 91mobiles suggests the wearable will be available in 4 colours – Polished Silver/Bay, Matte Black/Obsidian, Champagne Gold/Hazel and Polished Silver/Porcelain and come with 2 new bands – Metal Slim and Active Sport. Speculations suggest the smartwatch will have a 100 per cent aluminium body instead of stainless steel to cut down on weight.
Hardware and software upgrades
The smartwatch 2 will run on WearOS 4, which brings several new functionalities and improvements like dynamic theme support and seamless updates. Rumour has it that Google will switch from the dated Exynos to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset.
According to 9to5Google, the upcoming wearable device will come with a slightly bigger 306mAh battery, which is said to offer up to 24 hours of battery life with always-on display.
